It’s the most modern car I’ve ever owned. The only one I’ve had built in this century. The last modern car I had was a 1998 Toyota Tercel - which was rear ended and totaled by an uninsured driver.
What did I get? A 2010 Honda Fit Sport. I wanted something with a manual, and with under 100K miles. I don’t know if anybody else has noticed, but the used market has really dried up this year. I looked at Subarus too, but nothing with a manual wasn’t beat to shit and/or overpriced. It’s going to take some getting used to, after driving nothing but old Saabs for six years. The Saab’s controls are all very heavy - precise, but heavy. You need to put some weight into your inputs. So a modern car with power brakes and power steering, it’s a little disconcerting.
As for the Saab, I’m thinking about putting it on BAT and seeing what happens, or maybe putting it on ebay. I did have a couple prospective buyers, but honestly would like to see it move on ASAP.

New(ish) Hondas all have touchy brakes. My dad’s MDX and my mom’s CRV both try to put me through the windshield every time I drive the.

Congrats. Sadly, the new car won’t have quite the same character.

I really hope the Saab could go to a good home...
I’m nowhere near you. but curious - how much were you looking to get for it? Was yours a two-stroke? I have a terrible memory...

A Fit is a good car. Comes with a great reputation and probably fun to toss around a corner. The market for sub 100k manual small car on the cheap really is shrinking lately.

Fit Sports can be fun to toss around, they’re like a modern EG Civic! Enjoy it!

A terribly irresponsible expenditure is what it is but if Mama’s happy everyone’s happy. I read up on late 90s Saabs though and didn’t encounter too many dire warnings of doom and as it will mostly be used for evening sanity cruises, I’m confident I can keep it running for a while.

You’re forgetting, that I have another saab in the garage.

Hoping to get around 1500 for it. It’s a V4.

You got that right.
Sanity cruise sounds like just the thing. I would take my wife on evening drives around the lake. This is great for that.

Yeah she’s been on extreme stay at home orders from the doctor and so hardly gets out - stuck at home with our wild 3-year old. There’s a forest preserve near here where if you drive through it at dusk you almost always see deer and other wildlife. We even saw a huge owl recently. Anyways, before he was born, we would take the TR6 over there somewhat often and now we can only do it when there’s a babysitter. Ergo, we need a 4-seat convertible at least until corona considerations clear up.

Nah, but I know I’ve seen your car around town and at C&C, and it’s always brought a smile.

That doesn’t sound at all irresponsible. That’s a valid mental health expenditure.

Enjoy the interior room, I’ve been amazed how much can be loaded into a Fit, the couple times I’ve helped load one.

I hope she goes to a good home :(
If you were closer and I had a garage, I’d be all over it for that price....awesome and gorgeous old thing!
